Newly written during Deanna's artist residency at the Sacatar Institute in Bahia, Brazil, this choral piece with original Portuguese text was premiered in June 2018 by Choral Arts Initiative under the direction of Brandon Elliott. Listen to the performance below, and stay tuned for the sheet music.
Nossa Senhora Suite
Deanna recently returned from a two month residency at the Sacatar Institute in Itaparica, Bahia, Brazil doing research for her new composition/recording, the Nossa Senhora Suite. This short, original song from the Justice Choir Songbook has been sung at social justice gatherings all across the country, including at at 60th anniversary events commemorating the “Little Rock Nine” at Central High School in Little Rock, AR.
